The expansive keyboard features 140 buttons, with the standard QWERTY selection joined by a numeric 10-key pad, 12 function buttons, six arrow keys, and dedicated media controls. In many ways, it's similar to the Roccat Isku Illuminated Gaming Keyboard, but it manages to feel more substantial and doesn't have quite as large of an integrated palmrest. It's wide, it's broad, and it sits up at a bit of an angle. Measuring 1.18 by 20.5 by 8.7 inches (HWD) this keyboard is enormous. The first thing I noticed when I began testing the Apex was its size. It's not quite perfect, but the SteelSeries Apex is one of the better gaming keyboards we've seen this year. SteelSeries has loaded up the Apex with all sorts of features to delight gamers of every stripe, including unique offerings, like an extra wide space bar, additional arrow keys, and as many as 88 different macro commands with dedicated buttons. The Apex has to be large, if only to fit in all of the dozens of keys and features offered on the keyboard.
